Two people were detained for speeding.

According to a press release of the Communication Branch of the Police Headquarters, during a speed race on Paphos Avenue, two young men who were arrested by the Police were allegedly engaged in their cars last night. The two vehicles reportedly reached a speed of 146 kilometers per hour.

Specifically, around 10.25 p.m. Yesterday, a member of the Paphos Traffic Police, who was conducting a speed control, on Eratos Avenue, in Geroskipou, spotted two cars, which were allegedly racing, developing a speed of 146 kilometers per hour, while the maximum speed limit at this point of the road is 65 kilometers per hour.

The two vehicles were stopped for inspection, during which it was found that the drivers were 18-year-old and 19-year-old, both residents of Paphos. The two were arrested for a self-inflicted crime. They were taken to the Paphos Traffic Police offices, where they were charged in writing and released, to be summoned before a Court. Paphos Traffic Police is investigating the case.
