Cyprus is "drowning" in dust - The measurements per province

High concentrations of dust are observed in the atmosphere today

1 29

High concentrations of dust are observed today, April 18, 2022, in the atmosphere according to the measurements of the ground Stations of the Air Quality Monitoring Network of the Department of Labor Inspection.

Because dust contains small amounts of inhalable particles that may have a negative effect on human health, the public and especially vulnerable groups (children, the elderly and the sick) are urged to avoid moving outdoors until the phenomenon is over.

Employers must take the appropriate organizational or technical measures, after assessing the risks to their employees who are outdoors and employees in such areas are advised to use appropriate means of personal protection.

For information, the hourly dust collection values measured at 7:00 a.m. in the following areas were:

Nicosia: 56,6 μg / m3

Limassol: 81,3 μg / m3

Larnaca: 46,6 μg / m3

Lakeside: 50,9 μg / m3

Paphos: 80,3 μg / m3

Weight: 34,4 μg / m3

Agia Marina Xyliatou: 93,8 μg / m3

Note that "dust" means inhalable particles in the atmosphere less than 10 μm in diameter (PM10). According to the relevant legislation, the limit value refers to the average daily value and should not exceed the value of 50 μg / m3 (micrograms per cubic meter).

More information and continuous, immediate information on the results of hourly measurements can be found on the website www.airquality.gov.cy and in the application "Air Quality Cyprus", which can be installed free of charge on a mobile phone.
