Egyptian multimillionaire Naguib Sawiris expressed his interest in investing in Cyprus beyond the Ayia Napa marina in Bloomberg. As he mentioned, the discovery of hydrocarbons contributes to the positive assessment of the Cypriot economy, while he believes that the right time for investment is when there is an economic crisis.
In fact, the Egyptian decided to invest in Cyprus after the decision to cut deposits in 2013. "The right time to invest is always when things are bad, when there seems to be no hope," said the Egyptian businessman, adding that "in such cases, governments are open to concessions and make better deals."
He stressed that the prospects are very good for the economy of Cyprus, while, as he noted in Bloomberg, large investments have already been launched in the country, such as in the hotel industry, while the construction of a casino is underway. He pointed out that the construction of an oil storage terminal is already underway, while investors were also interested in the port of Limassol.
At the same time, he noted that the discovery of natural gas is a gift from God and will contribute to the development of the economy, while he revealed that he intends to make further investments in Cyprus, looking for other opportunities, after first seeing how the marina project will proceed.
