Guterres: I will continue every effort for a solution based on UN resolutions
UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres described Cyprus as an important partner, assuring that he will continue to make every effort to find a solution to the Cyprus problem, based on the decisions and resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
The Secretary-General was speaking during yesterday's presentation of the credentials of Ambassador Maria Michael as the new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to the UN.
According to a statement issued by GTP, during the presentation of credentials, the Permanent Representative conveyed to the Secretary General the warm greetings of the President of the Republic and reiterated his commitment to work together with him for the resumption of negotiations to resolve the Cyprus problem and reunification of Cyprus, based on the resolutions of the UN Security Council.
The UN Secretary General thanked the Permanent Representative for the exemplary cooperation between the United Nations and Cyprus, characterizing Cyprus as an important partner and assured that he will continue to make every effort to find a solution to the Cyprus problem, based on the decisions and resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, it added.
