The mayor of Paphos named more than 10 people, known to the Police for involvement in circuits operating in Cyprus, in his testimony yesterday. Speaking to RIK, Faidonas Faidonos repeated the hints of concealment, either intentionally or due to incompetence, as he said.

Mr. Faidonos referred specifically to an earlier complaint, which - he added - not only was not investigated, but those involved were informed.
At the same time, he wondered why, since the Police knows people and situations, they do not move effectively to dismantle circuits and investigate criminal activities.
Referring specifically to the bombing of his mother's vehicle, the mayor of Paphos said that the aim of the perpetrators was to cause a Christmas upset to his family, but also to send the message to anyone else who was considering making any complaint.
Answering a question, Phaedon Phaedon said that he had not received personal threats before, but some people approached him and simply urged him to be careful.
He also confirmed that additional measures have been taken to protect him and his family members.

Rejected by the Police

The Police categorically rejects the reports of the mayor of Paphos that a cover-up is being attempted.
Speaking also to RIK, the Deputy Spokesman of the Police, Stelios Stylianou, stressed that this case is also being treated with due seriousness.
We have proved, he added, that we do our job very well and operate with patience and method.
He added that the police can not move illegally in the investigation of any case, noting that it takes hard work to turn a simple suspicion into a testimony, which can be substantiated before a court.
Regarding the bombing of Mr. Faidonos's mother, Stelios Stylianou said that it was premature to draw any conclusions.
