Five crews of the Investigative Committee for the Missing (DIA) are carrying out excavations in areas in the occupied territories, looking for missing Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.

As an official of the DEA Office told KYPE, at the moment five crews are carrying out excavations. One is in Assia, where they are looking for two Turkish Cypriots from 1963-1964, the second crew is in Agios Epiktitos, Kyrenia, where the DEA has been searching for E/K since 1974, while the third crew is excavating the mass grave in Aloa. Also, another team is in Palaiosofos in the mountains of Lapithos, looking for I/C soldiers, and yet another team is in Kythrea in what is considered a military area where searches are focused on a missing I/C.

Asked if there were any results so far, the official told KYPE "we are going with the hope that we will find". He clarified that bones are present in Aloa, "we know that it is a mass grave, while a bone fragment was found in Lapithos".
