Giannakis Gabriel seems to be returning to his old "captivity" after the vacant position that has emerged in the AKEL parliamentary seats since the resignation of Christakis Tziovanis.
According to the regulations of the parliament and the relevant legislation, the vacant position provides for its filling by the runner-up from the same constituency, while according to the information, the first runner-up, Toumazos Tsielepis, does not seem to accept, resulting in the seat occupied by Giannakis Gabriel, who put himself at the disposal of the party.
In a telephone conversation with Famagusta.News, the current Provincial Secretary of EKA Famagusta, stated succinctly that the internal party procedures precede.
It is recalled that Mr. Gabriel was a member of parliament for Famagusta of AKEL between 2008 and 2016. His career in the parliamentary seats had started as a runner-up, as he was sworn in for the first time after the appointment of Costas Papakostas to the Ministry of Defense.
