Messages to specific recipients were sent by the President of the Republic during the pre-election period.
As in the past, he said, so today we are witnessing election campaigns that have a negative character, nullify the offer of others and try to level personalities.
He also said that many citizens, seduced by a nationally selfish perception of things, believe that what is occasionally in line with what they perceive as a national interest or even a partisan personal interest, is also correct.
Let us not forget, he said, that at the end of this pre-election process, the people are the ones who will have the floor and we must contribute, so that they become as wise as possible in their choices.
President Anastasiadis, speaking at the journalism awards of the Institute of Mass Media, University of Nicosia, called on the self-respecting media to support the bland and substantiated political discourse and to distinguish corruption.
