Government Spokesman Mr. Konstantinos Letympiotis briefed the media at the Presidential Palace today.

In his opening statement, the Spokesperson said: "Tomorrow, December 20, Israel's Foreign Minister Eli Cohen will visit Cyprus. The visit of the Israeli Foreign Minister is related to the plans for the development and implementation of the initiative of the Republic of Cyprus to create a sea corridor to provide humanitarian aid to the civilian population in Gaza.

As is already known, last week a technical team from Israel visited Cyprus, where they held meetings and visited the infrastructures involved in the implementation of the initiative. The Israeli Foreign Minister will hold a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Constantinos Kobo in the presence of technical teams to discuss technical issues related to the initiative.

Within the framework of the initiative of the Republic of Cyprus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs yesterday had telephone communications with his counterparts from Britain and France, where they discussed the developments in the region and also the initiative of the Republic of Cyprus as it has been formed so far.

The management of the Pentakomos Integrated Waste Management Facility has been transferred to the Water Development Department since midnight. The 14-day deadline given by the state to the contractor has expired and now the Department of Water Development (DWD) will manage the unit in this transitional stage until new contracts are prepared and tenders are announced with correct terms, specifications and procedures.

For days now, a team from TAU has been at the OEDA of Pentakomou in order to ensure a smooth transition to the new Management regime. The primary concern of TAU is to continue the operation of the unit without interruption, so as not to cause a disturbance regarding waste management in the Municipalities and Communities of the Limassol district. The assistance of the Development Company of the District of Limassol in the management of the OEDA in this transitional stage is also important.

We welcome the implementation from yesterday, Monday, December 18, of the Electronic Justice information system (e-justice). The start of the pilot operation of the new electronic justice system, which the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy presented in consultation with the Pancypriot Bar Association and the Supreme Court, is a very important step towards the digital transformation of our country, but also in the reform of the judicial system. Its final solution is expected in February 2024.

The Government ranks the reform of the judicial system very high in its priorities and is promoting the implementation of reforms aimed at building a modern and speedy justice delivery system by introducing, among other things, IT technologies.

It is our belief that as a State we have a duty to build a justice system that will facilitate the fulfillment of the mission of all who serve the law. A justice system which, above all, will serve the public interest, will work for the benefit of citizens and will not be challenged by society.

The long-awaited implementation of the Electronic Justice system now puts our country in an era of substantial reform of justice, the ultimate goal of which is to deliver it faster."
