1812: Berezina's battle, which began on the 26th of the month, ends in Russia with the defeat of Napoleon's French invaders.

1822: Staikos Staikopoulos conquers Palamidi of Nafplio and raises Galanolefki. On the same day, the Greek revolutionaries, under Nikitaras, Tsokris and Hadjichristos, defeat Deli Ahmet Bey in Cortesa, Corinth.

1826: The French philhellene Favieros, led by 480 men, breaks the siege of the Acropolis of Athens by Kioutachis and supplies the besieged with gunpowder for a whole month.

1830: "November Uprising": The Poles revolt against the Russian occupiers.

1899: Swiss businessman Hans Gamber and 11 other people found the Barcelona football team.

1906: The Lancia car industry is founded by the realist and engineer Vicenzo Lancia.

1907: Prince George marries Princess Maria Bonaparte in a religious wedding at the Metropolitan Church of Athens.

1934: The King of England George V marries the Princess of Greece Marina.

1944: Albania is liberated from the Axis powers.

1963: The Beatles release their hit "I Want to Hold Your Hand". The pre-sales reach 1.000.000.

1964: The official celebration in Gorgopotamos for the explosion of the homonymous bridge by resistance fighters in 1942 is drowning in blood. An explosion at the scene of the event causes the death of 13 people and the injury of 45.

1967:  Panagiotis Pipinelis and Ihsan Sambri Tsaglagyagil agree on the withdrawal of the Greek Division from Cyprus, after the events in Kofinou. At the same time, Turkish warplanes are flying over Nicosia and the Presidential Palace, where Cyrus Vance is meeting with Archbishop Makarios.

1970: Pandemonium is being created in Syntagma Square, in view of the first screening of the film Woodstock at the Pallas Cinema on Bucharest Street. More than 3.000 young people try their best to secure the coveted ticket, while scenes of hysteria unfold during the screening, inside the cinema. A police intervention follows with 13 arrests.

1975: Queen climbs to No. 1 on the UK charts with the song Bohemian Rhapsody.

1975:  Bill Gates and Paul Allen name the new company they founded Microsoft (Microcomputer Software).

2009: Antonis Samaras is elected from the first round of the internal party elections as the new president of New Democracy, with a percentage of 50,6%, prevailing of Dora Bakoyannis who received 39,72% and of Panagiotis Psomiadis who received 10,22%. 782.136 voters went to the polls.
