Mayor of Deryneia: Invitation to Deputy Minister of Tourism for promotion inland

The Mayor of Deryneia, Andros Karagiannis, appeals to the Deputy Minister of Tourism to invest in the promotion of the hinterland with the aim of attracting foreign and local tourists, after the pandemic of the corona.

In a letter to the Deputy Minister of Tourism, the Mayor of Deryneia refers to a letter from Mr. Perdios to the Presidents of KEVE and ETAP, regarding the budget of the Famagusta Tourism Development and Promotion Company for 2021.

Mr. Karagiannis expresses his congratulations to the Deputy Minister of Tourism for his decision to increase the fund to all ETAP for 2020 and notes that "the report on the promotion of domestic tourism as well as domestic tourism finds us in complete agreement."

It also refers to the intention of the President of ETAP Famagusta to request "additional funds to strengthen the Company with the aim of promoting the hinterland, which attracts domestic tourism at the same time."

The Mayor of Deryneia in his letter points out "the urgent need to support the hinterland as an additional and reinforcing factor for the promotion of the entire province of Famagusta. Traditional museums, churches, strawberry groves, orange groves, taverns, nature walks, acquaintance with the Cypriot tradition and culture, can be projected through a targeted campaign to promote the hinterland.

He also states that "foreign and local visitors should get to know the culture, tradition and hospitality of Cyprus, something that is experienced in the Communities, in the villages, in the small Municipalities and in every corner of Cyprus".

Andros Karagiannis calls on the Deputy Minister of Tourism to invest "in the promotion of the hinterland, which is a reinforcing element in the effort made to attract foreign and local tourists, during the difficult period that will follow after the pandemic of the corona".
