Former members of the presidential guard, an architect, a quantity meter and other witnesses, intend to summon the former President of the Republic, Mr. Dimitris Christofias, in order to overturn the image presented by his former close friend, Miltiadis Neophytou, before the Court, based on which he was not paid for all the work his company did at the former President's cottage and house.
According to information from the environment of Mr. Christofias, among others, invoices and receipts will be submitted, in order to overturn the part of the statement of Miltiadis Neophytou, that he received a total of € 270.285,08 from the former President at the time of the projects, and in fact at cost prices, amounted to € 1.021.992,18, excluding VAT. Mr. Neophytou had clarified that "for the work on the first and second floor, he has received some money from the Defendant's daughters" and that he reserves his rights. In his statement before the Court, he did not specify the amount he received.
According to the environment of the former President, who also invokes evidence which he will submit before the Court, the total payment to the company Miltiadis Neophytou by Mr. Christofias and his daughters amounts to € 800.285 euros, while the amount due by the former President, at € 129.714.
Especially regarding his house, Mr. Christofias is expected to submit an assessment of the architect who supervised the works, based on which the renovation of the ground floor (area 187 sq.m.) of underground auxiliary spaces of 50 sq.m. and covered verandas 15sq.m. completed in 2009, cost € 350.000.
Based on the estimate of the architect, Mr. Christofias also claims that the value of the work at his holiday home in Kellaki was € 50.000. He also claims that for the purposes of "where did you go" he used as the value of the renovations of his house and cottage of € 400.000 (€ 350.000 per house and € 50.000 per cottage) and from these were deducted € 200.000, for which Mr. Neophytou issued receipts. In the process, always according to the environment of the former President, he paid another € 70.285, so there is a balance of € 129.715, which he does not deny owes.
As for his daughters, Mr. Christofias is of the opinion that the former paid € 80.000 for a partial renovation of her apartment and also holds the receipt. The second one built an apartment in 2009 above the house of her father and sister, paying € 450.000 and for these works she has a receipt from Mr. Neophytou.
The environment of the former President claims on the one hand that the amount requested by Miltiadis Neophytou is excessive and on the other hand that much more money has been paid than what he claimed that Mr. Neophytou received.
€ 100.000 in the… "box"
Interesting is the version of the former President regarding cash € 100.000, which, as it is claimed, were withdrawn from the bank and allegedly transferred by a member of the presidential guard to Miltiadis Neophytou. According to this version, Mr. Neophytou did not collect the money, claiming that he has no other money to receive, so it was returned to the former President.
When the money came and went, according to the version of Dimitris Christofias' environment, the money remained in a safe for a long time. The money was locked in a safe at the Presidential Palace until the issue was settled. According to this version, the money was not withdrawn during the period when the banks were closed, but long ago. Of course, all this will be judged by the Court.
The former President of the Republic had built his house in 1989, at a cost of £ 65.000. To these must be added the value of the plot which was approximately .14.000 135.000. In total, the house cost about € 2009 and the renovation in 350.000 cost € XNUMX.
Mr. Christofias is said by Miltiadis Neophytou to have intervened himself in terms of how the work will be carried out, while the environment of the former President considers that Miltiadis Neophytou also intervened on the same issues, when his relations with Dimitris Christofias were fraternal.
