Ingredients for 4 people
- 500 gr. lentils
- 1 medium onion grated on a grater
- 2 cloves garlic, in slices
- Or a cup of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tomato grated on a grater
- 2 laurel leaves
- vinegar
- salt
- pepper
Implementation
- Clean the lentils and rinse them under running water. Leave them in a bowl of cold water until the onion, tomato and garlic are ready.
- Then, drain the lentils and put them in a saucepan with as much water as needed to cover them.
- Boil them for 10 minutes and then drain.
- Put them back in the pot with 6 cups of fresh water. Add the onion, garlic, tomato and bay leaves.
- Let the lentils simmer for about half an hour or as long as it takes to soften.
- Add the oil, salt, pepper and a little vinegar. Continue to cook for an additional 30 minutes, until well cooked and simmered.
