On 08/11/2022, a cycling event was held in Ayia Napa by students of the Primary School of Ayia Napa with the motto "Cycling safely in the Neighborhood of our School".
The cycling event was organized by the school management in collaboration with the Famagusta Police Department (Road Safety Department - Community Policing) as part of the school's programs as well as the efforts made by the Police to prevent road conflicts and by extension the cultivation of road awareness. From an early age.
Cyclists had the opportunity to ride the streets safely around the school by applying the rules of the road taking into account the conditions and the excellent condition of the bike they were using in relation to their safety.
The cycling was preceded by a lecture by the Police on the subject of "Rules of proper bicycle use". The required check of the bicycles was also carried out in collaboration with the drivers themselves for better safety and better consolidation of the lecture's messages.
The Head of Road Safety of the Famagusta Police Department Lt. 816 Giorgos Dimitriou offered the participants protective helmets. They were also presented with gifts by members of Community Policing.
For the better organization and safety of cycling, the members of the Cycling Police of A.D.E. Famagusta cycled with the students and provided them with similar facilities in cooperation with the members of the Community Police.
The children also accompanied members of the school's Parents' Association on their bicycles. For the success of the whole action, staff of the Municipality of Ayia Napa worked as well as an off-duty nurse on his own initiative.
A total of about 100 students of the XNUMXth and XNUMXth grades participated in the cycling, who cycled in groups. The Action was a complete success and ended smoothly without any problems
