As Dame Mr. Attorney General

The legal circles of our country are closely watching the actions of the Attorney General in the matter created by the well-known report of the pro-Turkish channel Al Jazeera. Already eminent lawyers, even publicly disagreed with the manipulations and demand transparency and accountability for the actions of Mr. G. Prosecutor. The main criticism is the delays in the investigations and the lack of protection of the suspects which are left to the voracious mass media and also to the public opinion.

Personally, Mr. General, I had the opportunity to see a large part of the well-known video, as you certainly did. What I saw really shocked me. No exaggeration. What I easily found, even though I am not a lawyer, but even the most ignorant person can easily discern, is that for years a crime has been committed against four of our fellow human beings. And not only are you not protecting them, but by your actions and omissions you are encouraging cannibalism.

Al-Jazeera, which is in the service of Turkish interests, made sure to pass on to the public opinion images and create impressions against some of our fellow citizens with the ultimate goal of neutralizing them both as political actors and as people. The weak links were identified and they were loaded with sins of others, so that the processions and sins of some other corrupt and thieves were covered. The people had to be disoriented from the real culprits. Some scapegoats had to be presented for the eyes of the international public, which had become disgusted with what was being done around the passport sales program. And the known four were found after collusion, scheming and machinations.

You, Mr. Attorney General, should have been doubly and thrice careful with the matter. For the simple reason that in some cases you too have been a victim of cannibalism. You should have received the necessary messages and not persisted in prosecuting three people, since in the meantime you fortunately reached the decision to drop the charges against one of the four.

This one, the lawyer Andreas Pitatzis, stoically endured the long drag. In the last years he suffered everything, but behaved decently, responsibly and professionally, showing eternal patience, he waited for the great hour of vindication. If Mr. Pittatzis released 50% of the unedited material at his disposal, the majority of the world would turn in favor of him and the other three defendants. But he did not do so respecting the procedures and laws of his country.

He preferred to draw his own Calvary, bearing the cross that was unjustly loaded upon him. Having seen the material with which Mr. Pittatzis easily gets out of the frame of any category, I have one thing to say. Kudos and kudos to him for behaving responsibly and maintaining privacy, taking all the beatings and accusations thrown his way all this time himself.

Personally having had the opportunity to see this material recently, I repeat that I was shocked. And I was shocked above all by the naivety of some, their study and lightness to seize the supposed opportunity to drag faces, tarnish perceptions and assassinate characters. And all this in collusion with the pro-Turkish Al Jazeera. And with the ultimate aim to lighten the position of the real culprits and criminals who ran afoul of Cyprus.

And this is where one admires your own insistence on bringing the case before the Court knowing that it cannot be supported in law. We see the former Speaker of the Parliament Dimitris Syllouris and the former MP, lawyer Christakis Tziovanis being unjustly prosecuted. No facts, just the farce set up by Al Jazeera. Punish Mr. Syllouris, who since his youth has been fighting and offering to the country, even from the second highest office in the Republic of Cyprus. To punish Mr. Giovanis who, among other things, as a businessman, offered so much. Public opinion in the Paralimni-Agia Napa area considers him a benefactor since he contributed to the recovery of the economy. More than two thousand people live from his businesses.

I repeat it, Mr. General, after a word of knowledge: This farce must end. And to expire soon because it was delayed. Do not insist on confirming that This is Cyprus is indeed valid. The actual, disputed video documents more of those that were artificially let out to create a climate at the expense of the four now three.

P.S.: It is at least strange the insistence of some, including you, to sacrifice three persons as scapegoats in exchange for what was unacceptable with the passport program and the consequent dragging of Cyprus. The real culprits, Mr. General, are enjoying, as you know, the fruits of their dirty work, undisturbed.
