With the original Cooking Competition "Potato Experiments" opened its gates the 7th Pancyprian Potato Festival that will take place on July 27, 2019 at 20:00, at the Community Stadium of Avgorou.
Three housewives of the village competed with three members of the Association of Chefs and Gourmets of Cyprus, at the Ethnographic Museum of Avgoros, to highlight the best main course and the best dessert, all made from recipes based on potatoes.
At RED GROUP Chef Savvas Savva and Dina Charalambous-Rami participated, who cooked a Homemade Potato Burger with tomato jam and Cypriot "processions" with potatoes.
At GREEN GROUP Chef Charalambos Kritsilis and Panagiota Karyou participated who prepared Potato Croquettes with smoked bacon and ham and Potato Truffles with coconut, chocolate and grated Aleppo.
At YELLOW GROUP Chef Elias Lekkas and Pantela Ioannou competed, who prepared French fries with herbs and yogurt dip and Sweet potato spoon.
The jury consisted of Theodosis Tsiolas-Secretary of the Council of Ministers, George Skalias-Advisor to the Minister of Education, George Chrysafinis-District of Famagusta and Panagis Michailas-Commune Leader of Avgoros.
The winner was the RED TEAM, while the second and third places were occupied respectively by the GREEN and YELLOW TEAMS. The awards ceremony will take place on the night of the Festival.
The competition was presented by the radio producers of KLIK FM in a two-hour live link, Louis Patsalidis and Georgia Panagi, who amazed the contestants, judges and the public with their gastronomic knowledge and unique humor.

The 7th Pancyprian Potato Festival culminates with the big folk spree with the Greek artists George Margaritis, Lena Papadopoulou and Droulias Brothers on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at 20:00 at the Community Stadium of Avgorou.
Attendees will have the opportunity to try gourmet potato flavors from the Association of Chefs of Cyprus and traditional dishes from the housewives of Avgoros and enjoy ofto kleftiko and spit from professionals in the catering sector. Take a closer look at state-of-the-art agricultural machinery and be informed by experts about modern potato growing methods. To travel to the past through the exhibition of old tractors and agricultural machinery, to admire the craftsmen of traditional Cypriot professions and to visit the fantastic Playground, with many activities for the little visitors.
