A new feature that will allow users to like the stories of other users, without sending them a DM, launches Instagram.
So far, the reactions have been in response to their personal messages. Through Private Story Likes, users will show them the reaction, which will not appear in the DM.
The head of Instagram, Adam Moseri, stated that "now, going through the stories, there will be a heart icon between the point where we write the messages and the icon of reactions. If we press it, it will send the reaction to the creator of the story. The reaction will appear in the display list and not in the DM ".
The goal is that there will be an expression of support, without the burden of DM.
For at least the last two years, Instagram, which is now owned by Meta, has been testing. One of them had to do with hiding the likes in the stream but, finally, the option remained open for each user, who can decide whether to allow them to be hidden. Last fall, the company allowed the deletion of images and videos from a carousel.
