Almost 27 years later, Internet Explorer is officially saying goodbye to us. As Microsoft announced last year, it will stop supporting Internet Explorer 15 for Windows 2022, which affects the vast majority of its users, from today, June 11, 10, while support will continue only for those who use Windows Server 2022.
The end of IE closes a bittersweet chapter in Microsoft history. Internet Explorer was released with Windows 95 and for many was their first contact with the World Wide Web, and its contribution to the spread of the Internet was crucial. In fact, in 2003, 95% of internet users used IE.

Unfortunately, as the years went by, IE became associated with Microsoft's worst strategies. Its connection to Windows adversely affected the competition, and many security issues arose. Microsoft's slow response has allowed Chrome and Firefox to gain market share of the lion and will now try to reverse the situation with Edge.

The end of IE is not expected to cause compatibility issues as Edge has IE Mode which will be supported until 2029. However the company will make moves to redirect existing Internet Explorer users to Edge in the coming months and permanently disable old software through an upcoming update.
