One of the most famous neighborhoods in Europe… "goes out"
De Wallen, the infamous area of the "red quarter" in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, is threatened with "extinction".
Many of the "open" brothels, where women are presented as dolls in a shop window to the delight of "sex tourists", close one after another.
Many politicians and law enforcement agencies have recently admitted that the legalization of prostitution was ultimately catastrophic.
The Dutch Senate is already considering a bill that, if passed, would penalize those who pay for having sex with a woman victim of trafficking or in any way forced to be extradited.
The Netherlands legalized the brothel industry in 2000 and then the government promised that it would work for the safety of women and bring an end to white-collar trafficking. The government claimed that everything would be safe and transparent and in the end the opposite happened. Sex tourism is now an important branch of tourism and - for example - the British visit the country and pay to have sex with the women of the "red neighborhood".
What once seemed like a revolutionary approach to prostitution is now considered a disaster by all but those who seek to profit from the extradition of women. The Dutch Empire seems to be collapsing. More than a third of "open" brothels have closed and more will soon lose their licenses.
The beginning of the end against the catastrophic Dutch model of legalizing prostitution has begun…
