Cyprus won a great opportunity for further development of the television and film industry in the country and its promotion abroad. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (IATAS) selected Cyprus to host two semifinals for the International Emmy Awards.
The International Emmy Awards recognize the best programs shown worldwide on television and alternative media such as Amazon's Netflix and Prime video. It is noted that the 48th International Emmy Awards will be presented on November 23, 2020 in New York.
This success is due to the efforts and connections of the CEO and President of Mesimvria Enterprises Ltd, George Xinaris, who was recently elected a member of IATAS. Mesimvria will also host the two semifinals in Cyprus.
According to Mr. Xinaris, the semifinals are crucial for the promotion of the winners of the Awards as during their conduct the candidacies are selected which will claim the coveted distinction. "The semifinals are also a unique opportunity for the network of state organizations, Cypriot businessmen and actors of television and cinema with factors from the international industry of series and film producers," said Mr. Xinaris.
It is worth noting that Emmy awards have been given to big names on the big and small screens, including Dustin Hoffman and Sean Bean, as well as to popular series with international acclaim such as "La Casa De Papel" and "Black Mirror". It is worth mentioning that in 2019 he was awarded to Christine Amanpour, Chief International Anchor at CNN and presenter of the evening international show of PBS "Amanpour", the International Academy's 2019 Directorate of Emmy Award. This award reflects the range of television producers that the institution rewards internationally.
As part of hosting semifinals on the island, the Television Academy offers the opportunity to organizations and companies from Cyprus to attend the grand gala of the awards in New York through a limited number of sponsorships at various events.
