136 Syrians entered illegally by sea on Monday and another 272 on Sunday raising the alarm both about the gigantic rescue operations set up by government agencies and about the situation with the massive and unstoppable flows entering our island, which have turned into in daily routine. In fact, all the routes start from Lebanon, which is considered a safe country and according to the Government, does not justify the attempt to enter the Syrians under the refugee status.
There were 136 Syrians on the three boats that arrived on Monday afternoon and another 272 on five boats on Sunday, the vast majority of them men.
Specifically, 18 people were on board the first boat, 21 on the second and 97 on the third boat.
The Police handcuffed 3 people aged 17, 22 and 36 as alleged traffickers.
In the meantime, the competent agencies of the Republic remain on full alert as Cyprus has been receiving massive flows of immigrants in the last few hours. All immigrants are transferred to Pournara for accommodation.
In addition, the immigration issue is expected to be the focus of an emergency meeting of the National Security Council convened by President Christodoulidis on Tuesday morning.
