Lawrence Middleton Wood, 77, a British resident of Avgoros, is victim of a fatal accident which took place tonight in Avgorou.
According to the Police, tonight around 18.45, the 77-year-old retiree was riding a small moped on Karyon Street in Avgorou towards the center of the Community. A car driven by a 47-year-old man from Avgorou and coming from the opposite direction in his attempt to turn right into a lane, interrupted the course of the moped with the result that the Briton fell to the ground.
Men from the Avgoros Police Station, the Famagusta Traffic Police and an ambulance that transported the 77-year-old Briton to the TAEP of the Famagusta General Hospital went to the scene, where the doctors on duty confirmed his death.
The police investigations revealed that the Briton was wearing a safety helmet, while the 47-year-old was tested for alcohol with zero indication.
The Famagusta Traffic Police is investigating the new fatal accident.
