More than 120 saplings were planted near the roundabout, located at the entrance of Ayia Napa, which were granted free of charge by the Municipality and which will contribute to the further beautification of the area as well as the greening, according to an announcement by the Municipality of Ayia Napa.
According to the announcement, the tree planting was carried out by the Movement of Ecologists-Citizens' Cooperation, in cooperation with the Municipality of Ayia Napa and was attended by the President of the Movement Charalambos Theopemptou, MP George Perdikis, Mayor Christos Zannetkos Parakmas Eparthmas members and friends of the Movement.
In his statements, Mr. Zannettou thanked the Ecologists 'Movement - Citizens' Cooperation both for the initiative and the excellent cooperation in the organization of tree planting and for the role it has played regarding tree planting in our country over time.
"Our goal," he added, "is for Ayia Napa to continue upgrading and enriching the green which is a lung of oxygen for the better quality of life and standard of living of both residents and visitors."
In addition, the President of the Movement of Ecologists-Citizens' Cooperation, according to the announcement, thanked the Mayor of Ayia Napa for the help and support he gave to the Movement so that this tree planting can be achieved.
Mr. Theopemptou said that the Movement of Ecologists - Citizens' Cooperation have "set as a goal that for every vote we plant a tree" and added that "tree planting continues not only for this but because our place needs it, the climate is changing, "We have now reached a climate crisis and not just a climate change, so it is important to plant trees."
Finally, according to the announcement of the Municipality of Ayia Napa, the President of the Ecologists-Citizens' Cooperation referred to the difficulties faced by all those who plant trees that are none other than finding places and saplings.
