Revenues from the rental of umbrellas and sunbeds on the organized beaches of the Municipality of Ayia Napa were significantly reduced during this tourist season.
Specifically, according to the beach inspector of the Municipality, Dimitris Patera, the total turnover from the beaches in the summer of 2020 just approached one million euros.
"In the summer of 2019, the Municipality of Ayia Napa put in its coffers an amount of 3,6 million from the revenues of the beaches. "You understand that the difference is huge," said Mr. Pateras.
"In October alone, the average income from the beaches did not exceed 25 thousand euros. "Last year, in the same month, the receipts from the organized beaches of the tourist resort had exceeded 200 thousand euros," he explained.
It is noted that the Municipality this summer, employed reduced staff with reduced hours, however providing high services to all bathers.
