A 27-year-old man was arrested yesterday by members of the Police, in order to facilitate the investigations regarding an investigated case of shoplifting and theft. The suspect was located by the members of TAE Famagusta, inside the store at the time of the burglary.

Specifically, around 3.00 on Friday afternoon, the owner of a brewery in Ayia Napa complained to the Police that a burglary was committed at his premises, stating that the suspect is inside the premises. Members of TAE Famagusta rushed to the spot, where they located the 27-year-old, who did not give satisfactory explanations for the presence at the premises, while after an investigation, a screwdriver and a lantern were found in his possession.

Examinations at the scene revealed that the premises had been broken into, and that the cash register and a billiard room inside the brewery had also been breached. According to the data under investigation, 10 euros in coins were stolen from the cash register and 50 euros in coins were stolen from the billiards.

The members of the Police proceeded to the arrest of the 27-year-old, against whom a case of shoplifting and theft, theft from a locked box and possession of burglary tools is being investigated. A case of illegal stay in the Republic is also being investigated against him, after the examinations carried out to verify his data, it was found that he was residing illegally in Cyprus, since June 2018.
