Pantelis Neos announced his independent candidacy for the Deputy Mayor of Ayia Napa.
His announcement is as follows:
"Friends and friends, dear fellow citizens,
In a few months, we will be invited to participate in an electoral process that will usher in a new era for local government, municipalities, communities and local communities.
From June 2024, our Ayia Napa will now be a municipal district of the newly established and expanded Municipality of Ayia Napa, together with Sotira, Liopetri, Avgorou and Achna.
The new Municipality bears our strong name that we built with hard work and dedication all these years, with our successful municipal councils, our mayors, municipal committees, organized groups, with the contribution of each one of us.
After the prompting of several friends, mature thinking and intense reflection, I decided to run for the position of Deputy Mayor of Ayia Napa. A position that I believe I can serve, because I love Ayia Napa, I have the appetite and I am ready to offer my place.
Because I want to work so that we maintain our leading role, continue the actions to upgrade the lives of the citizens, maintain our local identity, distinguish ourselves in cultural events and continue the upgrade of our tourism industry, which is the pillar of both of our local economy as well as of our Cyprus, our trademark, the pride of every Ayannapite.
I am running as an independent candidate, because I believe that at the local government level, the driving force and catalyst for success must be unity, cooperation, alignment to goals, the common vision.
I ask for the support of each of you individually, I recognize the importance of organized groups, I fully respect the role of parties.
I invite you all to work together to ensure a successful transition to the new form of local government, to manage change collectively, to work with everyone within the new enlarged Municipality of Ayia Napa, to maintain what we have achieved and to take advantage of the opportunities that are opening up in front of us.
