The Akriti High School of Peace and Freedom of Deryneia-Sotiras was visited (on Friday, December 16) by His Holiness Metropolitan Basilios of Constantia and Famagusta.
The visit took place in the framework of a planned presentation of the exhibition "Memories of Rome - wounds of uprooting" of the Cultural Academy "Agios Epifanios" of the Metropolis, which has been presented in the free province of Famagusta since last October.
On the occasion of the themes of the exhibition, Metropolitan Vassilios shared with the students his personal experiences of being a refugee and being uprooted. Referring to the open wound from which Cyprus suffers, he spoke about the importance of memory as the means that can prevent tragic events, and about the need to find the right course of the creation and continuation of Culture.
Addressing the students, Metropolitan Basilios of Constantia and Famagusta emphasized that it is the younger generations who build the future and urged the students not to forget the values of the Nation, faith and the Church, since thanks to them our existence is ensured, under adverse conditions .
He wished the students good progress and congratulated the students and teachers for the important work being done in their school, as well as in all educational institutions in Cyprus. He particularly thanked the school for its long-term support to the work of the Diocese, with his participation and presence in its actions.
The students and teachers in turn thanked His Holiness and wished him success in the upcoming archdiocesan elections.
