The Department of Public Works, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces that, as of 06/09/2023, the works of replacing obsolete signaling equipment by a private company at 33 light-controlled intersections and 12 Pelican-type pedestrian crossings in the wider area of Larnaca and Famagusta have begun, with new type of low consumption (Extra Low Voltage-ELV) with LED lamps, Pedestrian Countdown system and touch type demand system for pedestrians.

The equipment replacement work at each point will be completed within a day – barring unforeseen circumstances – and during the work the light-controlled junctions and pedestrian crossings will remain out of service. If necessary, temporary traffic lights will be installed.

During the week of 11/12/2023 – 17/12/2023, works will be carried out at junctions/pedestrian crossings:

G. Kranidioti Avenue (Pedestrian Crossing, Larnaca)
Sp. Kyprianou Avenue / Papanikoli (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
G. Kranidioti / Agriniou Avenue (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
N. & D. Pattichi Ave. / Kalymnos (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)
1st April Avenue / Griva Digeni (Traffic Lights, Larnaca)

The Department of Public Works apologizes for the unavoidable inconvenience this will cause and urges the public to show the necessary understanding and compliance with the temporary road markings.
