The Police arrested a 34-year-old man yesterday, to facilitate investigations regarding the arrival of a boat in the sea area of Famagusta, in which a total of 15 persons were on board.
The boat stopped at around 4.30pm. yesterday, in the sea area off Cabo Greco, by the Port and Maritime Police. It was found that 13 men, one woman and one child were on board.
The passengers were transported by the L&N Police boat to the Paralimni Naval Station.
From the tests carried out, it was found that the boat had sailed from the coast of Syria, on the evening of May 30, 2023. According to the testimonies obtained, the captain of the boat was the 34-year-old man, who was arrested and taken into custody to facilitate investigations.
The rest of the passengers, upon completion of the examinations, were transferred to the "Pournara" Hospitality Center.
