The Association of Owners of Leisure Centers of Famagusta (S.I.K.A.A.) calls on the government to proceed immediately to the payment of special allowances for the period 01-31 December 2020 to both the unemployed and businesses, which they are waiting for the benefits to be paid in order to proceed with the payment to their employees.
Unfortunately, it seems that the magnitude of the problem has not been realized, especially in the Province of Famagusta. Hundreds of families have been financially devastated by the ongoing financial crisis caused by the pandemic, and with the resumption of bank installments many families are in danger of losing even their homes in a few months. Businesses and especially small family businesses have run out of all forms of liquidity and too many are unable to secure new financing as they have no other collateral to offer to the banks.
We call on the competent Ministers to pay a short visit to the region in order to realize for themselves the problems faced by the citizens. We also call on the Government to reconsider the minimum amount of support for the long-term unemployed, to the standards it has rightly recently done for retirees, as the amount of 500 euros is no longer enough even for the basics and in some cases is not enough for payment of installments and rents.
On the occasion of the forthcoming budget debate next Thursday, we call on all political parties, without exception, to show a responsible attitude and find solutions so that the State budget can be voted on and this uncertainty that panics all these people so much needs to stop. have the support. We remind everyone that any support to companies and employees presupposes the existence of an approved State Budget.
