One of the biggest problems that GESY faces in the first days of its implementation is the limited number of specialist doctors who have already joined the system. The authorities expect their increase over time and the normalization of the plan.
One of the most "sought after" medical specialties by patients are cardiologists. So far, according to the available data of the Health Insurance Organization, 53 cardiologists from all over Cyprus have joined GESY.
The 23 registered cardiologists are based in Nicosia, 13 in Limassol, nine in Paphos, five in Larnaca and four in Famagusta.
These are the four cardiologists so far based in Famagusta:
