In a final information day held today at the City Hall of Paralimni, the event of completion of the project "HERMES 2 - Tourism without Barriers for All" was held, which was implemented by the Municipality of Paralimni with the aim of serving people with mobility problems and creating special infrastructure Municipality in collaboration with the Cyprus Paraplegics Organization.

In total, as part of the program, six special infrastructures were installed on the beaches of Paralimni, with a sea access ramp with a special wheelchair for people with disabilities, as well as the creation of accessible sanitary facilities and four outdoor training areas.

At the same time, as part of the project, a study was prepared to map the accessibility of infrastructure, digital and printed accessibility guide and development of a relevant website (pamepantou.eu).

Specifically, special SeaTrack type wheelchairs and ramps have been installed on Green Bay, Argyropigado, Agia Triada, Louma, Fig Tree Bay and Vrysoudia beaches.

As stated during the meeting, the President of the Cyprus Paraplegic Organization, Dimitris Lamprianidis, the main purpose of the project is to offer accessibility to people with reduced mobility and disabilities so that they can have easy access and service on the beaches of Paralimni.

For her part, the Head of European Programs of the Municipality of Paralimni, Kalomira Kelly, stated that the Municipality of Paralimni as a partner, in collaboration with OPAK and the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupolis, set as their general goal the service of people with mobility problems. communication networks as well as information in places of tourist interest.

The project "HERMES 2 - Tourism Without Barriers for All" was implemented with the main beneficiary the Cyprus Paraplegics Organization and with beneficiaries the Municipality of Paralimni and the Municipality of Syros Ermoupolis with funding from Interreg Greece-Cyprus 2014 2020.

The duration of the project was 2 years, from November 2017 to November 2019, with a budget of € 610.000, of which 85% from Community Contribution (ETPA) and 15% from National Public Financing.
