Read the greeting of the President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis:

It is really with great pleasure that I attend the presentation of the final design of the Paralimni marina, a very important infrastructure project for the enrichment of the tourist product of the free District of Famagusta and beyond.

The Paralimni marina, which will be declared the official entry point of the Republic, will have a capacity of 300 boats, while it will include residential and commercial developments. The cost of the project will amount to 110 million euros and the funds come entirely from Cypriot investors, PMV Maritime Holdings Limited, which proves again that Cypriot businessmen believe in and support the development prospects of our country.

This project is another tangible proof of the important developments in the tourism sector that have been implemented or are in the process of implementation in recent years, such as the casino-resort, the marinas of Ayia Napa, Limassol and Larnaca, now in Prasralimni, new hotel units, mixed tourism developments and golf courses.

Developments that have been part of the broader targeted policy we have adopted with the ultimate goal of making our country a destination for quality investment and therefore opening up new prospects for sustainable and sustainable development for the country.

The creation and the high added value of these projects, significantly strengthen the position of Cyprus in the new demanding conditions that are increasingly formed in the international tourist environment, while bringing significant short-term and long-term benefits for our country.

Benefits which are summarized, among other things, in the environmental upgrade, in the creation of new jobs, in the inflow of direct and indirect revenues to the state and above all, by giving a new identity and enriching our tourist product, in further attracting quality tourism.

It is worth mentioning that the creation of these development projects also results from the series of urban, tax and other incentives and targeted measures we have promoted, recognizing the capital importance of investment activity for the development of the place.

Motivation. such as increasing the rate of construction, simplifying licensing procedures for tourism businesses, accelerating depreciation for investments in hotel units and a host of other measures, which created a competitive and attractive framework for development and investment that stimulated business and construction.

As demonstrated by this purely Cypriot investment initiative, it is with great satisfaction that we find that Cypriot entrepreneurs, with the dynamism and ability that distinguishes them, have taken full advantage of the incentives and measures we have promoted.

As a result, in recent years, the dynamics and extroversion of the tourism industry has significantly increased, as evidenced by the rapid increase in tourism to our country, where in January-November the total arrivals of tourists amounted to three million 800 thousand.

The establishment of the Ministry of Tourism is crucial for the modernization and strengthening of the institutional framework that governs the operation of the tourism sector. I have to express my warm thanks to the political parties that have adopted a truly progressive reform that will make a significant contribution to the further development and strengthening of our tourism product.

The exclusive supervision of tourism by a body with political guidance, creates the necessary conditions for the effective promotion and upgrading of our tourism product, sustainable development and full harmonization with the new data governing the global tourism market, the implementation of the national strategy. for tourism and therefore the sustainable contribution of the tourism sector to the economy.

The Paralimni marina is expected to bring, both during the construction phase and after its completion, multiplied economic and social benefits to the local community and the wider area of Famagusta.

Indicative of the above, is the fact that agreements have already been reached for the commercial use of the premises, while similar interest has been expressed regarding the purchase of residential units.

At the same time, upgrading the image of the area is expected to enhance and give a significant boost to the visibly observed growth of the province of Famagusta in recent years with new major infrastructure projects, such as the marina of Ayia Napa, the golf course under consideration - we are to see how some problems that arise due to the area that has been declared as forest area can be overcome, but with a redesign I hope that the problems will be overcome - the regeneration of the river Liopetri and the creation of new hotel units

The implementation of these projects, in addition to the obvious upgrade of the tourist product of free Famagusta, will attract new foreign investment of high added value, increase revenues from traditional and new markets for visitors of high purchasing power, extend the tourist season and create new ones. work.

And despite this fact, it cannot satisfy us very much, since in the direction of the general economic and social upgrade of Paralimni and the District of Famagusta, the contribution of the Government has been decisive.

Contribution, which confirms the priority we attach to highlighting the advantages of each province, showing practical interest in the development policy of local authorities.

Adding to this is the implementation of a series of projects which, as the ultimate recipients of the various positive results that emerge, have the citizens themselves, upgrading their quality of life.

Indicatively, I would like to mention that, embracing the vision not only of the Municipality of Paralimni but of the whole region, we have promoted development and cultural projects for municipalities and communities that exceed 114 million euros, not counting joint projects worth 37 million euros, with the Municipality. Paralimniou to benefit from projects worth 45 million euros.

These projects, working towards achieving the goal of sustainable and sustainable development, make absolutely clear the positive results that can result from a constructive and honest cooperation between central and local government.

As I have noted many times, I would like to reassure you that always in the context of the economic potential of the State and the wider public interest of the country, our support should be taken for granted both in the mature projects and in the development goals and aspirations that set by all local authorities.

Large-scale development projects such as the Paralimni marina, with the potential they offer for the development of all real estate that composes the land area of the area, are breathtaking projects and a reference point for the whole place.

Therefore, their promotion either by the state or by the private sector, or with the cooperation of the two, and the observance of the schedules for their implementation and completion is crucial, since they are the driving force for the development of our country's economy. .

Congratulating once again the cooperating companies, and especially the company J&P but also all the stakeholders, I look forward to the rapid completion of the project, which, as the Mayor of Paralimni himself had stated during the signing of the relevant contracts, "gave hope to province gave us a future for our children and grandchildren ".
