More than 300 families in the province of Famagusta have asked for support from the Center for Supply and Love Agios Christoforos, due to the closure of businesses or the delayed operation of tourist units, phenomena that occurred due to the pandemic of the coronation.

In a statement to Famagusta.News, KEPA Vice President Dimitris Papaefthlontos stated that "the needy families that KEPA has been helping over time are 80". "Unfortunately, he said, these days the needs have multiplied with the result that last month more than 300" Love Baskets "were given to respective families."

"Due to the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic, he explains, and because we could not have visitors in the area, we took the initiative and distributed the" Love Baskets "in the homes of the beneficiaries."

It is noted that the Center for Supply and Love "Agios Christoforos" is a charity which has been active mainly in the free province of Famagusta since 1996.

The foundation operates various charitable activities, one of which is the "Love Basket".

Poor families mainly from the province of Famagusta, after completing a relevant application and presenting some certificates come to the institution once a month and get the "Love Basket" which includes essential items such as frozen items and refrigerated items (chicken, cold cuts, dairy etc. .) as well as vegetables and fruits, dry food (spaghetti, legumes, canned food, etc.). Also, when there is a quantity available, we give baby cloths, baby wipes, baby milk, etc., or coupons from supermarkets or bakeries. These products as well as the coupons are bought either by the institution itself or are supplied to us by companies or ordinary people who want to help.

The vice-president of the center emphasized the contribution of the companies of the province and the voluntary contribution of the residents, saying that “In our project we had the support and help of all the municipalities and communities of our province. In addition, he says, we have had full cooperation and communication with all competent authorities such as the Volunteer Commissioner, the Welfare Office, several Secretariats of Primary and Secondary Schools as well as City Halls and Community Councils both in our province and in other areas of Cyprus.

For needy families who were outside the province of Famagusta, coupons were sent by post from supermarkets.
