PROTARAS: The beaches were cleaned of jellyfish - Pyrilli Statements (VIDEO)

The beaches of Protaras were cleaned from the jellyfish that appeared last week.

As stated by the Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis, "the immediate measures taken yesterday by the competent Services of the Municipality brought the desired results and all the jellyfish that were trapped in small bays of Protaras were collected".

He added that since yesterday morning the Rescue Service of the Municipality organized a campaign to clean the beaches of the area and using abstentions the members of the Service in collaboration with volunteers proceeded to collect the remains of jellyfish. "After cleaning the beaches, people have been enjoying the sea safely and unhindered since yesterday," he said.

He explained that among the beaches that were cleaned were the Holy Trinity, Kappari, Skoutarospili, Vrysoudia, Luma, Islands, Lombardi, Island and Fig Tree Bay.

Mr. Pyrillis expressed his warm thanks to the Rescue Service of the Municipality, the volunteers and the ordinary citizens who came and assisted in the whole effort.
