The Mayor of Paralimni started his greeting yesterday during the opening ceremony of Pernera Avenue with an apology to the people of the Pernera area in Protaras on behalf of the state and the Municipality.

As stated by Theodoros Pyrillis, this is an urban project that was executed with state funds totaling € 8.500.000 while he continued expressing "On behalf of the state and the Municipality, a big apology to the people who suffered for two additional years of the planned implementation time of the project."

However, the quality upgrade of the area, said the Mayor of Paralimni, was our priority and we finally succeeded.

He also said that the completion of the project contributed catalytically to the improvement of the tourism product, to the upgrading of the quality of life of both residents and businesses, as well as to the implementation of sustainable mobility to serve all people with disabilities.

He pointed out that the rational management of rainwater, tree planting, bike path, road lighting, as well as large sidewalks, now compose a new scenario in the area of ​​Pernera with greater growth prospects, with greater prospects for attracting new investment and greater prospects for the creation of new jobs, expressing the certainty that the performance of the project will bring multiple benefits to the people who have suffered in recent years due to construction work.

He also expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Vasiliki Anastasiadou as well as the Minister of Interior Konstantinos Petridis who supported the Municipality of Paralimni for the last year and a half, in order to achieve the completion of the project.

Regarding the delays, the Mayor of Paralimni said that during the execution of the project there were many problems which marked, as he mentioned, the behaviors of people who did not see the clock or whether it was a working day or a holiday and went to work day and night to solve the problems. at times they functioned as time bombs, which could destroy the tourism of the whole of Protaras.

He also thanked the former Director of Public Works Mrs. Chrystalla Mallouppa and the current Deputy Director of Public Works, Socrates Zapitis, who, as he said, visited the construction site regularly and quietly, gave solutions directly and monitored the project directly. Important infrastructure projects in Paralimni

Referring to the infrastructure projects that have been completed or are in progress in Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis pointed out that the project of Pernera Avenue in synergy with the project of the coastal pedestrian street, the completion of the rainwater management project and the upcoming renovation of the square The inauguration, in connection with the strengthening of the street lighting of Aphrodite Street and Perneras Street, which begins in the fall, marks the efforts made by the Municipality to complete the important infrastructure that the area was deprived of in the previous decades.

He went on to say that the completion of the works of the Police Directorate as well as the operation of the provincial offices of the Land Registry and Urban Planning, have given a new impetus to the wider province of Famagusta. By the end of the year, the multi-storey car park will start in the center of Paralimni with a capacity of 300 vehicles and a value of 4 million, while at the beginning of the new year begins the first phase of regeneration of the Paralimni core which provides pedestrianization of the area enclosed by the square.
