Projects in excess of € 45 million have been constructed or are in progress

The various projects costing more than 45 million euros, which are being carried out in the Municipality of Paralimni, prove in practice the government's interest in upgrading the quality of life of the residents, said last night during the opening ceremony of Pernera Avenue in Protaras, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works. Vasiliki Anastasiadou.

Projects over 45 million euros in Paralimni

In her greeting, Mrs. Anastasiadou referred to the projects that were completed in the Municipality of Paralimni. These are:

  • Construction of the Famagusta Police Department in Paralimni, (at a cost of € 6,6 million),
  • Upgrading of the Technical School of Paralimni (€ 2,3m),
  • Construction of a Sports Hall by the Municipality of Paralimni, on the site of the fourth Primary School (€ 1,5m),
  • Construction of an event hall at the Technical School of Paralimni (€ 0,43m),
  • Construction of a multipurpose room in the 1st Primary School of Paralimni (€ 0,33m),
  • Expansion of the 1st Primary School of Paralimni (€ 0,23m)
  • Track and field improvement works at Tassos Markos Stadium (€ 0,5m)

Under construction are:

  • Famagusta District Court at a cost of 6 million euros
  • Construction of a section of 1st of April Avenue, with a total cost of € 2,4 million.

The Minister of Transport also referred to the projects that are expected to start in 2019-2020 with the Municipality of Paralimni being the contracting authority in some of them. These are:

  • Kappari road network,
  • Upgrading of Paralimni High School,
  • Improvement projects in the fishing shelters of Agia Triada and Paralimni,
  • Renovation of the center of Paralimni and creation of parking spaces,
  • Third phase of the coastal pedestrian street in Protaras.

He also noted that "all the projects, costing more than 45 million euros, which substantially upgrade the Municipality of Paralimni, have as final recipients of the various positive results that arise, the citizens themselves, proving in practice the interest we show in upgrading it. their quality of life embracing the vision of the local authorities regarding the development and evolution of the Municipality ".

Special mention for the marina of Paralimni

Ms. Anastasiadou in her greeting also referred to the marina of Paralimni, which, as she said, "is expected to bring, both during the construction phase and after its completion, multiplier economic and social benefits to the local community and the wider area of ​​Famagusta . Agreements have already been reached for the commercial use of the premises, while a similar interest has been expressed regarding the purchase of housing units ".

At the same time, he continued, "upgrading the image of the area is expected to strengthen and give a significant impetus to the visibly observed growth of the province of Famagusta in recent years, with new major infrastructure projects, such as Ayia Napa Marina, golf course, the regeneration of the river Liopetri and the creation of new hotel units ”.

He also noted that "the implementation of these projects, in addition to the obvious upgrade of the tourist product of free Famagusta, will attract new foreign investments of high added value, will increase revenues from traditional and new markets of high purchasing power, will extend its will create new jobs ".

Road network upgrade with Pernera Avenue

Regarding Perneras Avenue, in Paralimni, the Minister described the project as important and said that "developmental texture not only for the Municipality of Paralimni but also the wider area of ​​free Famagusta, as it significantly upgrades the road network and the provided local and tourist infrastructure in one of the busiest areas of Cyprus ".

He added that "the project has a starting and ending point on Protaras Avenue - Kavo Greco, the total length of the improved roads is about three kilometers and was executed by the Company GENERAL CONSTRUCTION COMPANY LTD after the announcement of an open Tender, at a cost of € 6,8. , 23. The works started on March 2016, 2019 and were fully completed in January XNUMX ″.

The Minister said that "Perneras Avenue has two traffic lanes and a third lane for right-hand traffic, paved sidewalks, bike paths, green spaces, parking lots, pedestrian crossings and bus stops. The central part of the road, about 500 meters long, is elevated and made with special materials ".

As part of the project, a roundabout was constructed at the junction of Pernera Avenue with Aphrodite and Mandaliou Streets and traffic lights were installed at two points, at the beginning and end of the project, at the junction with Protaras Avenue - Cape Greco. At the same time, all utilities have been undergrounded, a central rainwater drainage system has been installed and new, modern street lighting has been installed.
