The King of this year's Famagusta Carnival was presented on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at a press conference held at Paralimni Town Hall. This is Dimitris Tsierkezos, also known in the local community as "Pepe", who is a perennial carnivalist. This year's King's theme is "Carnival Extravaganza".
The conference was held in the presence of the Mayor of Paralimni, Mr. Theodoros Pyrillis, the President of the Cultural Committee of the Municipality of Paralimni, Mr. Tasos Vlittis, the member of the Committee, Maria Moulazimis, and the member of the Famagusta Carnival Committee, Mr. Kostas Herodotou.
All the participants in the conference invited the people to actively participate in all the events of this year's Carnival.
The King of this year's Carnival
Dimitris Tsierkezos, also known in the local community as "Pepe", is a hairdresser by profession and maintains his own hair salon in Paralimni. He participates in the Famagusta Carnival from the very beginning, having taken part in all the carnival parades, as well as the carnival events that take place every year. At the same time, he is an active member of various cultural ensembles taking part in numerous events.

Fun with food and live music on Chiknopempi
As every year, the events begin on Good Friday, March 7 when the day will be opened with a Live Link from Politia Fm in St. George's Square from 17:00 to 19:00. The event will start at 19:00 with DJ music and of course our organized ensembles who will take over the "tsiknoma", selling traditional dishes of the day.
Then, around 19:30, the biggest event of the evening will take place, the ARRIVAL OF KING Dimitris Tsierkezos (Pepe), who will receive the scepter from last year's royal couple, Christianas Siopaha and Costas Florentzou.
The evening will continue with food, drink and entertainment with live music from the band "PROSKYNISTES".
Carnival Procession... by sea
On Saturday, March 9, a carnival procession by sea from the Sports for All program will be held at Agia Triada Beach at 10:00. Participants will take their SUP boards and enter the water in a carnival mood, which will be in line with the days we will travel.
Children's show "Skantzis, Skantzis the Hedgehog in Karnavaloupolis"
On Saturday, March 16 at 16:00 p.m., the "Modern Children's Shadow Theater" will present the children's show "Skantzis the Skantzochirakis in Karnavaloupolis" in the hall of the Paralimni Town Hall. The entrance is free.
Evening foot parade and wild party
On March 16, the traditional evening foot parade will be held at 20:00, in the main streets of Paralimni, to which people do not need to come organized. All the participants together, each with the theme they choose to dress up in will spill out into the streets and dance samba and other rhythms that will of course match the day! Afterwards, the parade will end up in the Paralimni square, where a wild party will be set up where the attendees will have fun dancing to crazy carnival rhythms!

Great Provincial Carnival Parade of Famagusta
The carnival events culminate on Sunday, March 17 with the Famagusta Provincial Carnival Parade which will be held along Protaras Avenue in Paralimni. Young and old will gather with plenty of madness and their wonderful costumes, some to take part in the parade and others to watch and have fun!
It is noted that the last date for submitting entries for the Famagusta Carnival Parade that will take place in Paralimni on Sunday March 17, 2024 is March 4, 2024, while for their participation those interested must comply with the terms and conditions of the Famagusta Carnival Committee.
