More than 210 students from 30 public and private Gymnasiums, Lyceums and Technical Schools participated with their compositions in the preliminary phase of song selection within the 10th Pancyprian Student Song Festival "Marios Tokas - Costas Montis" 2018-2019, the which took place on December 7 at the Pallas Theater in Nicosia.
An announcement from the Press and Information Office states that "this now established annual event is an integral part of the educational and cultural activities of the Ministry of Education and Culture and is part of the four-year special strategic planning for the promotion of vocal music in the local music education. society in general ".
He adds that "the goal of the event, as every year, was the creation and presentation of songs by high school students in lyrics by the poet Costas Montis, other Cypriot and Greek poets or the children themselves."
From the total number of entries, twelve songs were selected, creations of students from the following schools: Acropolis High School - Nicosia Music High School, Chrysochous City High School, Drosia High School - Larnaca Music High School, Agios Kogeios Lyceum and Agios Geokios Lyceum.
Creations of students from the schools were also selected: Lyceum Ag. Georgiou Larnaca - Larnaca Music High School, Aradippou High School, Larnaca Technical School, High School - Terra Santa College, Famagusta Music High School - Kokkinochorion High School and Paphos Music High School - A 'Ethn. Makarios III.
Then, the selected groups had the opportunity to collaborate with well-known composers and teachers Adonis Aletra, Louka Xenofontos and Marina Kountouridou to prepare the final presentation, leaving the best impressions.
