The "Endless Sun" activities program of the Famagusta Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP) is being implemented for the 27th year this year as well.

As the Director of ETAP Famagusta Lakis Avraamidis stated to KYPE, “the aim of the program is on the one hand to employ visitors during the winter months when the weather conditions are not ideal for beach and swimming and on the other hand to lead foreigners to the hinterland to meet the customs, the culture of the place and in general to get in touch with the locals ".

The program "includes three excursions per week for a period of two weeks, ie a total of 6 excursions in two weeks and then the excursions are repeated. The excursions are carried out under the supervision of an official guide approved by the Cyprus Tourism Organization ".

He said that each trip "costs 5 euros and has its own identity", adding that foreign visitors "among other activities knead and bake their own bread in a traditional Cypriot oven, pick strawberries and oranges and if the weather allows, they also pick potatoes. They also learn how to make traditional Cypriot cheese and halloumi, visit archeological sites, open theme parks and participate in other activities and experiences. "

The specific program of activities, he said, "started in 1992 with the initiative of the hoteliers of the Province of Famagusta who wanted to offer more than sun and sea to the visitors of the area, especially during the winter months".

From its first year of operation, he said, "the program has been embraced by foreign visitors and has continued for about a decade, giving tourists, who were mostly elderly, a chance to get involved and participate in various events and activities, giving a special tone and color on their holidays ".

He also stated that after ten years "the responsibility for the implementation of the program was taken over by ETAP Famagusta, which continues its activities for the 27th year this year. The program is a great success, thanks to its originality and diversity, something that leaves visitors in the area completely satisfied, as can be seen from the comments and posts on Social Media ".
