A total of 9 grams of dry cannabis plant material were found in the car, in the house and in the jacket of a young man from Sotira.
According to the Police, members of YKAN tried yesterday afternoon to stop a car for control in Paralimni, which was driven by a 21-year-old from Sotira with a 20-year-old co-driver from Liopetri.
As soon as the driver noticed the presence of the members of YKAN, he developed speed and drove the car to adjacent fields where he was stopped in a large pothole.
The members of YKAN approached the car and in a search carried out on it, a piece of cylindrical cardboard was found in the driver's door, in which there was a package of dry cannabis plant material weighing 2 grams. A knife with a folding blade was also found in the car, with a mechanism that ends in a sharp edge.
The two young men were arrested for spontaneous offenses of possession and use of a controlled Class B drug and stabbing. A physical search of the 21-year-old man found a package of cannabis weighing about 2 grams in the pocket of his jacket, while another 2 grams of cannabis were found outside the car.
A search of the two young people's homes in Sotira and Liopetri followed, where nothing illegal was found in the 20-year-old's house. However, in the basement of the 21-year-old's house, a package containing about 1 gram of cannabis and a glass case with about 2 grams of cannabis were found in his personal belongings.
Investigating, the young man admitted to possessing and using cannabis and acquitted the 20-year-old of any involvement in the case.
The interrogated 20-year-old denied her involvement in any crimes and was fired last night.
The young man was taken into custody at the Ayia Napa Police Station and was released early this afternoon to be later charged with taking the results of the scientific examination of cannabis.
The case is being examined by the Famagusta branch of YKAN.
