The summer hunting season begins, with the first hunting trip taking place next Sunday, August 21st.

In an announcement, the Thera and Fauna Service calls on hunters to abide by all the written and unwritten laws of hunting and to show the necessary respect to their colleagues and to the foreign properties that host them.

The Hunting Service notes that lighting fires in unspecified areas is prohibited since with the prevailing weather conditions it is very dangerous to cause a fire.

In addition, hunters are encouraged to adhere to the following in order to avoid heat stroke:

  • Avoid sun exposure for a long time.
  • Dress in light clothing,
  • Use a hat and goggles that protect the eyes from the intense reflection of the sun.
  • Drink plenty of fluids (water and fruit juices).
  • Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages.

The renewal of hunting licenses is continued by the commercial banks and the cooperative institutions as well as from the internet 24 hours a day.

It is pointed out that in the whole area that has been burned by the recent fire in the Soleas valley, hunting will not be allowed during the summer hunting season. The above area is enclosed by the communities of Agios Theodoros, Evrychos, Kakopetria, Spilia, Kannavia, Kapoura.

Hunters are called, before the expedition, to study the allowed hunting areas well and to immediately report any illegality they find on the following mobile phones of the Service or the Police in 1414.
