The provincial parade on the 1st of April Avenue in Paralimni culminated the celebrations for the National Anniversary of the 25th of March in free Famagusta.
Educational institutions, scouts and organized ensembles from the entire free and occupied province of Famagusta and parts of the National Guard participated.
The Minister of Defense, Christoforos Fokaidis, welcomed the parade on behalf of the Government.
It was preceded by a Solemn Doxology at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Georgios and the laying of wreaths at the Heroes' Monument in Paralimni Square.
Celebrations in other cities
In the Municipality of Deryneia, a Festive Doxology was performed at the Holy Temple of All Saints. The Festive of the day was delivered by the former Minister and Member of the Cyprus Negotiating Group, Marios Iliadis. A parade followed along Eleftherias Avenue.
In the Municipality of Sotira, a Festive Doxology was performed at the Holy Temple of the Resurrection of the Savior. The solemnity of the day was announced by the First Educational Officer and Inspector of Secondary Education of Larnaca-Famagusta, Mr. Michael Loizidis.
In the Municipality of Ayia Napa, a Festive Doxology was performed in the Church of Panagia. The solemn speech was delivered by the Member of Parliament for DISY Famagusta, Onoufrios Koullas.
