Further pressure on the budget of households in Cyprus is caused by the decision of the oil companies to impose new increases of up to 3 cents per liter in the price of fuel due to the increase in the price of black gold internationally as a result of the situation in Syria.

According to the new data, the price of unleaded 95-octane gasoline reached 1,419 cents per liter, of 98-octane unleaded gasoline 1,463 cents per liter and of diesel 1,432 cents per liter.

In his statements, the President of the Pancyprian Association of Gas Station Owners, Stefanos Stefanou, characterized the increases as completely justified.

Petroleum companies do not rule out the possibility of new increases next week as long as the increase in the international price of black gold continues. Consumers will additionally be required to pay from January 1, 2014 an additional tax of 5 cents per liter, which is a memorandum obligation of Cyprus.
