The Famagusta District Court yesterday sentenced a 45-year-old man from Liopetri to two months in prison with a three-year suspension, after finding him guilty of the offenses of growing four cannabis plants and possessing 14.6 grams of cannabis.
According to the Police, the offenses were committed on March 4, 2013 when members of the Drug Enforcement Service, after information, conducted a search warrant on the house and premises of the 45-year-old from Liopetri.
During the search, 4 cannabis plants from 5 to 18 cm tall were found, which were planted in different parts of the yard. Also, 12 uprooted hemp plants from 7 to 36 cm in height were found, which were in the process of drying in a container which was placed in the yard of the house.
20 grams of cannabis and three handmade cigarette butts, which are believed to have been smoked with cannabis, were also found in various places inside and outside the house.
