Cases of possession of prohibited means of capturing wild birds, against people aged 31,49, 52, 56 and 64 are being investigated by the Police in free Famagusta.

According to the Police, yesterday morning, according to a court investigation decree, members of MMAD searched the house and premises of a 56-year-old man from Liopetri, where 52 swordfish, 5 trapping nets of wild birds and 12 slaughtered wild birds were located and confiscated as evidence.

The 56-year-old was taken to the Xylofagou Police Station, where after being charged in writing he was then fired to be summoned later before a Court.

Also yesterday morning in an orchard in the area "Vattenas" in the Community of Ormidia, members of Ulamos Thira located a 52-year-old man in his possession and to place 2 wild bird trapping nets as well as 11 folding iron stakes.

The findings were confiscated and the 52-year-old was taken to the Xylotympos Police Station where he was charged in writing and released to be summoned later before a Court.

Also under a search warrant, members of MMAD, in collaboration with the Thera Service, searched a house in Xylotympou in the presence of its 31-year-old owner.

In a cold room in the living room of the house, 13 packaged dozens of killed, cleaned, small wild birds and 32 wild birds in a nylon bag were located and confiscated. 75 swords were also found in the yard of the house.

The 31-year-old was taken to the Xylotympos Police Station where, after being charged in writing, he was later released to be summoned later before a Court.

Also, based on a search warrant, members of MMAD in collaboration with the Thera Service, searched a house in Ormidia in the presence of its 49-year-old owner, where they found and confiscated 7 black nets in a transparent nylon bag on a table in the kitchen.

Then 4 nets were found in the living room of the house, 6 nets in the bedroom and another 6 nets in the yard of the yard, all in nylon bags.

The 49-year-old was taken to the Xylotympos Police Station where, after being charged in writing, he was later released to be summoned later before a Court.

Also under a search warrant, members of MMAD in collaboration with the hunting service, searched a house in Xylotympou, in the presence of its 64-year-old owner from Ormidia, where 11 black nets of various shapes and sizes were located and confiscated.

They found 2 ready-to-use nets and 68 black nets on the premises, which he manages and is opposite his house.

The 64-year-old is expected to appear at the Xylotympos Police Station for testimony at a later stage.

The cases are being investigated by the Xylofagou and Xylotympos Police Stations.
