The actions and energies of the project "CULTURE MOSAIC" were presented on Friday, April 28, 2017 in a press conference held at the Municipal Palace of Paralimni in the presence of the four Mayors of the Province of Famagusta, Paralimni, Ayia Napri and Sos.
The Municipality of Paralimni undertook for the second consecutive year to implement as a final beneficiary the integration program by local authorities "Mosaic of Cultures". It is noted that the corporate structure is completed by the Municipalities of Ayia Napa, Deryneia, Sotiras and the consulting company Enoros Consulting Ltd. The aim of the project is the integration of Third Country Nationals (YTX) in the socio-economic fabric of the Province of Famagusta.
The project "Mosaic of Cultures" supports the process of integration of the HRC in Cypriot society, contributing to the promotion of social cohesion and the prevention of social exclusion.
More specifically, the program includes a series of multidimensional actions that aim at the active participation and activation of local authorities and bodies in the process of integration of migrants-IDPs and offers services and opportunities for socialization and interaction of migrants with local communities.
The services and activities of the program include training and education courses, social support and social guidance programs, intercultural / artistic events, actions to develop citizens' acceptance and understanding of diversity, exchange of views and know-how, first aid courses, care courses and children and the elderly, learning computers, art, and creating a service guide.
All ATCs have the right to participate in the programs
The program covers the geographical boundaries of the participating Municipalities and local communities throughout the free Province of Famagusta and is co-financed by 90% from the European Asylum, Immigration and Integration Fund and by 10% from the Republic of Cyprus. It has a total budget of € 126,466 and an implementation period until February 2018.
The Mayor of Paralimni, Mr. Theodoros Pyrillis, expressed his pleasure that the Municipality of Paralimni in cooperation with the other three Municipalities of the Province continues this year the action "Integration Programs by local authorities" of the Asylum, Immigration and Integration Fund. He added that a large number of Third Country Nationals live and work in Cyprus, with several of them residing in the Province of Famagusta, hence the role of Local Government in the process of integration of Third Country Nationals in Cypriot society as the environment of the host country. In the new social, economic and cultural conditions that multicultural societies entail, it is extremely important and the claim, implementation, continuity and success of the program confirm it. The Mayors of Ayia Napa, Sotira and Deryneia reinforcing what Mayor Paralimani continuation of the program emphasizing its importance in the pluralism of the multicultural society we live in.
