Less than 40 days are left for the Municipal Elections of next December and the province of Famagusta is in turmoil, with the candidates for Mayors, Mayors, members of Municipal and Community Councils and members of School Ephorates having started their election campaigns.
According to the data of the Election Service, regarding the Preference Crosses in the Municipalities of our province, in the Municipality of Paralimni, the 9.260 voters will have 3 preference Crosses for the 12 members of the Municipal Council.
In the Municipality of Deryneia, the 5.442 voters will be able to put up to 2 preference crosses for the 8 members of the Municipal Council.
In Sotira, there will also be the possibility of placing up to 2 crosses of preference, so that the 3.937 voters can elect the 8 members of the new Municipal Council of the city.
The 3.220 voters will be able to put two crosses of preference in the Municipality of Ayia Napa, to elect the 8 of the Municipal Council.
And in occupied Famagusta, the 31.440 voters will be able to place 7 preference crosses, to elect the 26 municipal councilors!
Submission of applications
Regarding the submission of candidacies, the General Election Commissioner has announced that the candidacies for the election of Mayors, Members of the Municipal Councils and Members of the School Ephorates, for the Municipalities of Famagusta province, will be submitted on November 17, between 9.00 in the morning. and 12.30 at noon in the branch of the Famagusta District Administration located in Paralimni.
Nominations for the 2016 Community Elections
The General Electoral Commissioner announces that the Electoral Commissioners will accept the candidacies for the Community Elections (Election of Commonwealth Members / Members of Community Councils), for all the communities of the Republic, on Monday, November 21, 2016, between the hours of 9.00 am. and 12.30 p.m.
Nominations will be submitted to regional centers designated by the Election Commissioners for this purpose. For more information, interested parties can contact the offices of the Electoral Commissioners or the Election Service.
Especially for the occupied communities, the application sites will be as follows:
(a) Occupied Communities of Nicosia District
At the office of the Prefect of Nicosia.
(b) Occupied Communities of Famagusta Province
At the office of the Prefect of Famagusta, in Larnaca. (United Nations Street 22).
(c) Occupied Communities of Kyrenia Province
At the office of the Prefect of Kyrenia, located in the building complex of the Ministry of Interior.
(d) Occupied Communities of Larnaca District
At the Larnaca District Office.
It is emphasized that, for the occupied communities in which the trapped citizens of the Republic still live, both the trapped and the displaced voters of these communities have the right to vote and to be elected.
For each candidacy of Commonwealth, the amount of € 200 is required to be deposited and for each candidacy of Community Councilor, an amount of € 100 is deposited, as a fee.
Each candidacy must be supported by two voters, who are registered on the electoral roll of the Community concerned.
