N. Papadopoulos sees the future for the Cypriot economy as ominous
"We are being led to the Mechanism and AKEL wants us to go, so that others take the measures and Europe and everyone else is to blame for them except AEKL" commented Nikolas Papadopoulos today on the RIK Morning Schedule
The deputy chairman of DIKO and chairman of the Finance Committee stressed that in AKEL they are hypocrites because they promise measures while they are not in the mood to take substantial measures.
Responding to what exactly he means, he stated: "Let me remind you of the ATA, which they have been reporting to AKEL for years, how they will change it or measures to contain the expenses that are not received. They want to lead us to the Mechanism and they will do that. "They do not want to take action."
St. Stefanou: N. Papadopoulos once wanted the Mechanism
The government spokesman Stefanos Stefanou responded strongly to Nikola Papadopoulos's statements, who "reversed" Mr. Papadopoulos's fire and stressed: "Let me remind you that Mr. Papadopoulos was one of those who were in favor of the Support Mechanism and with his former ally opposition to the government and I mean the former Governor of the Central Bank.
Mr. Orphanides failed to do his job properly, with the result that Cyprus is likely to enter into a mechanism. I say and stress the possibility because it is not certain. But if we finally enter this will be due to the banks and their exposure in Greece.
