We present to you today the ballot papers for the elections of Mayors, Municipal Councilors and Members of School Boards of December 18, 2016.
According to the Central Election Service, the ballots have already been prepared, as well as the training of the polling stations.
On Sunday, December 18, 2016, municipal / community elections will be held simultaneously as well as elections for the election of members of the school boards.
The municipal elections will be held for 39 municipalities, of which nine are occupied (Famagusta, Kyrenia, Morphou, Kythrea, Lefkoniko, Akanthou, Lysis, Karavas, Lapithos) and the four semi-occupied (Nicosia, Aglantzia, Agios Domeia).
Each council consists of the mayor and councilors, whose number is from 8 to 26, depending on the number of voters in each municipality.
Elections for mayor and councilors are held on the same day, but separately. This is done by using two ballot papers, one for the mayoral vote and the other for the municipal council vote.
With regard to the election of the mayor, the candidate who receives the most valid votes among the candidates is declared mayor, without setting any limit on the percentage of votes he must achieve.
With regard to the election of the directors, the candidates come down either as members of combinations or as individuals and for the distribution of seats the simple proportional one is applied. Voters also have the right to express their preference in favor of specific candidates with preference crosses, which may not exceed one for every four or fewer councilors, depending on the total number of councilors.

The General Electoral Commissioner announced that the "Where I vote" service has been activated, through which the citizen, by entering his / her ID number and date of birth, is informed about the polling station / s in which he / she has distributed. This information is available on the website wtv.elections.moi.gov.cy.
At the same time, the pan-Cypriot telephone number 77772212 has been activated, to which one can call and, after giving his / her ID number, be informed about the polling station / s to which he / she has been assigned.
This service operates on working days from 8.00 am. until 6.00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8.00 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. This service will also be offered on election day throughout the voting period.
Finally, the possibility of information is announced by sending a message via mobile phone to the number 1199, except for cyta subscribers, by entering the following information:

MUNICIPALITY OF AGIAS NAPAS
In the Municipality of Ayia Napa, elections will be held for Mayor and Municipal Council. The 3220 voters will choose one of the two mayoral candidates and can place up to two (2) preference crosses for the training of the 8 members of the Municipal Council.
MUNICIPALITY OF DERYNIA
In the Municipality, elections will be held only for the Municipal Council as there was no opponent of the current Mayor, Mr. Andros Karagiannis, who was automatically proclaimed Mayor. The 5442 voters can place up to two (2) preference crosses for the training of the 8 members of the Municipal Council.
MUNICIPALITY OF PARALIMNI
In the Municipality of Paralimni, elections will be held for Mayor and Municipal Council. The 9260 voters will choose one of the two mayoral candidates and can place up to three (3) preference crosses for the training of the 12 members of the Municipal Council.
MUNICIPALITY OF SOTIRA
In the Municipality of Sotiras elections will be held for Mayor, Municipal Council but also for Members of the School Ephorate. The 3937 voters will choose one of the two mayoral candidates and can place up to two (2) preference crosses for the training of the 8 members of the Municipal Council and up to two (2) preference crosses for the training of the 8 members of the School Ephorate Savior.
